A Dedicated LA-IRMS Ablation Chamber
LA-IRMS (Laser Ablation-Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry) is a technique that combines laser ablation with isotope ratio mass spectrometry to analyze the isotopic composition of solid samples with high spatial resolution and sensitivity, enabling in-situ analysis of organic carbon and other elements. By leveraging our decades of experience in other “low-flow” applications, the IRMS ablation chamber is optimized for IRMS and provides sensitive analysis, low backgrounds and accommodation of a wide variety of sample types.
IRMS Advanced Features
- Low Cell Volume – The IRMS ablation chamber allows enhanced sample transport and low gas flows compatible with IRMS requirements.
- Flexible Sample Accommodation and Mounting – The IRMS cell features a novel drawer for easy loading and unloading of samples which is proven to be leak-free during operation. Further, a variety of inserts are provided, enabling accommodation and analysis of different sample types including pucks, tree cores, pollen and microscope slides.
- Compatible With All ESL Laser Ablation Instruments & Major IRMS Models
- Optimized Cell Geometry – The internal geometry of the IRMS cell is designed to create a low volume environment, but also to ensure reproducible gas flow dynamics in all regions of the cell.
- Cryocell Compatible – A cryogenically cooled insert is available enabling the sample to be chilled to ~ -20° for CO2 measurement.
- Available in UV and IR configurations – Compatible with ESL laser ablation platforms and MIR102 laser fusion and heating system.
